Isabelle Holroyd

The French watercolourist Isabelle Holroyd is inspired first and foremost by colour. She has found in the immediacy of watercolour a way to liberate her drawing and allow colour to come alive. Her years spent in Asia, especially in Japan, have nourished her passion for still life and she finds her inspiration in the floral art of Ikebana and Japanese ceramics. She also spent numerous years sailing around the Mediterranean, bringing the sea as well as patterns drawn from antiquity into her paintings.
